At Mooroolbark East Primary School we implement the Victorian Department of Education’s School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. SWPBS is an evidence-based approach that promotes positive behaviour, enhances student wellbeing, and creates safe, supportive learning environments for all. The purpose of this framework is to build a consistent, school-wide culture where positive behaviour is explicitly taught, acknowledged, and celebrated. As part of our implementation, we have developed a whole-school token reward system that encourages students and classes to demonstrate our core school values of Kindness, Respect, Resilience, and Growth. When students show these values, they earn tokens that contribute to our Positive Behaviour Tree, proudly displayed in the office foyer. This collective effort leads to a whole-school reward, building a sense of unity and shared responsibility. In addition, we have introduced a major and minor behaviour system to ensure a clear and consistent approach to behaviour expectations. This system helps staff, students and families understand the processes and expectations around behaviour, fostering a calm, respectful and predictable school environment.
