At Mooroolbark East Primary School (MEPS), we are committed to providing a strong wellbeing program that supports students’ emotional, social and academic development. Our approach is underpinned by our school values of Kindness, Respect, Resilience and Growth, and is supported through the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. Our wellbeing approach is guided by a dedicated team made up of our Assistant Principal, School Psychologist and Learning Specialist, who work together to ensure students feel safe, supported and connected at school.
Students participate in a wellbeing curriculum delivered through units taught across the year. We also use whole-school strategies, including breathing techniques and encouraging students to seek support from trusted adults when needed. To further support student wellbeing, we offer structured and supervised break time programs such as Recess Club and the Tree House, providing safe spaces for students to play and connect. Our Buddy Program helps build positive relationships between year levels, and our transition programs support students as they move into new year levels, helping them feel confident and prepared for the year ahead. Together, these approaches create a supportive school environment where students can thrive both personally and academically.
