Mooroolbark East Primary School, situated in Mooroolbark, was established in 1972. The school is set in a peaceful environment of natural, landscaped grounds and spacious sporting areas. The student population of 576 children in 2025 comes from a diverse socio-economic background.
We primarily have straight-grade classes, with composite classes added when needed. Teachers collaborate in teams to plan, organise, and deliver programs, ensuring consistency and that all students at each level learn the same content.
Alongside the Victorian Curriculum, students have access to a variety of enrichment opportunities through a wide range of extracurricular programs. These include academic competitions, environmental clubs, and numerous sporting events such as Hoop Time, Cross Country, Athletics, and Interschool Sports. Lunchtime activities offer engaging options like Movie Making, Library and Lego club. Additionally, students can take part in music programs such as keyboard and guitar lessons, as well as join the school choir.
Student wellbeing is a central priority, with initiatives such as Respectful Relationships (RRRR) and the Zones of Regulation embedded in our approach. Our Student Wellbeing team works closely with students and families, providing targeted support through individual sessions, small group programs, and practical advice for parents.
At MEPS, we value strong home-school partnerships. Our School Council and parent committees organise events and fundraisers. We encourage parents to join working bees, volunteer, and support programs in literacy, numeracy, sport, and excursions. Together, we achieve the best for our students. At Mooroolbark East Primary School, we encourage student leadership and giving every child a voice. Our Grade Six Leadership Team includes School Captains and specialist captains in Visual Arts, Music, Digi Tech, Media Arts, Mandarin, and P.E. The Junior School Council (Grades 3–6) allows students to share ideas and lead projects, with class reps meeting regularly to improve the school.
