Mooroolbark East provides a balanced, comprehensive and inclusive curriculum known as the Victorian Curriculum (Foundation to Year 10) It provides a single, coherent and comprehensive set of prescribed content and common achievement standards, which schools use to plan student learning programs, assess student progress and report to parents. The Victorian Curriculum incorporates the learning areas for English, Mathematics (2.0), History and Science only, within the curriculum framework first developed for the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). The Victorian Curriculum also includes ‘Towards Foundation Level Victorian Curriculum’ (levels A to D) for students with disabilities.

Specialist Programs

Specialist programs are provided in Art, Digital Technologies, Media Arts, Music, Physical Education and Mandarin.

Extra Curricular Activities

In addition to core programs Mooroolbark East Primary School offers and encourages participation in a diverse range of extra curricular activities including competitions (Maths, English, Writing, Computer and Science), MEPS Movie Festival, celebrating Literacy and Numeracy week, various sporting events such as Hooptime basketball, Cross Country, Athletics carnivals, Interschool Sport and after school basketball. Out of class activities provide options in Chess and organised games. Students also have the opportunity to participate in keyboard and guitar lessons.

Performing Arts 

Every two years the school performs a production or concert with an emphasis on performing arts. (The alternate year is a school fete.)

Other Programs

Other program initiatives include PMP – Perceptual Motor Program –  for prep students, swimming programs, a puberty program for Grade 5 and 6 children, P-6 Cross Country and the Twilight Sports which is an annual event that promotes family involvement.

Camping Program

The school camping program involves grades 4 and 6. These camps have an educational and adventure activities focus.
